Preschool & Pre-K

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We have a fun and exciting month ahead of us! We will be starting to incorporate themes for each week in our class. For the month of October/November our themes will be apples, manners, pumpkins, Halloween, Thanksgiving and the Fall. During these weeks all of our activities will be geared towards these themes. We will be doing art projects and science experiments. Our math and language/literacy will also be based around these themes.

Also, we now have a weekly focus board in our room. Our weekly focus boards will have a letter, a number, a color, and a shape that we will be talking about and focusing on for the week. Our weekly focus boards will also always have our theme of the week on it so our students/parents know what we are working on at a moment’s glance.

As a note, please regularly check your child’s folder in the bin outside our classroom. In the folder will be some of your child’s creations and work in addition to weekly correspondences, reports, and observations.

We enjoyed meeting all of you and appreciate your kindness and cooperation as we make this center all that it can be!

Sincerely,

Toddlers

We are excited as we step into the Fall season! This month going forward we will also begin The Get Set for School/Handwriting without Tears Readiness and Writing program. Each week we will focus on a “Letter of the Week” which will include phonics activities, writing, games and Show & Tell! Each week our focus Alphabet letter will be “written” on the floor of our classrooms.

Every Friday (Thursdays for those absent on Fri.) the children will be given their Show & Tell mini tote bag with a note stating which letter we are working on for the upcoming week. The Show & Tell item that the children put inside their bag should begin with the letter of the week. Please do not lose this bag! This is an important part of the activity and the children should be responsible for their bag. Please do not allow the children to bring in an item that does not fit in the bag unless a special arrangement has been made with me. Show & Tell will be on Tuesdays. If your child is unable to find an item to put in the bag, they can cut out or draw a picture of their liking.

Show & Tell is a great time for your child to develop sharing and language skills. In addition to our letter of the week focus, your child will be asked questions about their item so that they have a chance to describe their item and to speak and be heard. Please join in. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Toddler Care

Aftercare

In the upcoming months in the School Age room we will be reading books about the Fall! We will be exploring leaves, apples, and pumpkins! We also will do many crafts like handprint acorns, painting with foliage colors, and making all other types of arboreal creations. We can’t wait to celebrate autumn!
